Aloha Tigers

I don’t know about you guys, but every so often there is a band that makes me want to lay on my bed, headphones on, eyes closed and just listen to them. Aloha Tigers, a ‘dream-pop’ duo from Illinois, are one of those bands. Their voices are enchanting, smooth and I can’t help but imagine perfect little scenarios which each song would be about.
So yeah, when you get a moment lay down and listen to them!

Dozens

Hello Everyone!
I am sorry about the huge gap between posts, I am hoping to get a new post out atleast twice a week now that I am settled in Brisbane!

Anyway, onto the review!

Dozens are a musical trio from Chicago.
Their fast paced music makes you want to do that really indie bop on the spot thing, in a good way. There is also a lot of head moving when I listen to Dozens. Let’s just say that they make me want to move.
Some of their stuff is really quite smooth and makes me feel like I should be sipping wine in someones lounge room while they play gorgeously in the corner – and I don’t even like wine…

I listen to most: In my room, and as I said before, lot’s of moving.
Sounds Like: The lead singer reminds me of Noah and The Whale’s, Charlie Fink.

Yeasayer

Hello again everyone! And I am terribly sorry for the lack of posting. I’ve been pretty busy having holiday season fun – but I am back!

Did everyone have a great NYE? I did.
I think the thing that really topped it off was just before we left (I went clubbing for New Years) the song ONE by Yeasayer came on. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a song as that moment. They are a wonderful band, and I realise they aren’t very new and a lot of people know about them. I just really wanted to share how happy they make me.
Sometimes I get this feeling of excitement for absolutely no reason and it makes me want to scream. I felt like that when ONE came on. Ridiculous? Maybe. Brilliant? Definitely.
They are a 6-piece band from Brooklyn. They’ve described themselves as “Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel” and I–hopefully you as well–think that is enough to get me listening to them.

I listen to most: If you can get a club to play it, it’s amazing. Dancing around the house, cleaning, road trips. Just make it loud.
Sounds like: MGMT, Hot Chip, Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit.

Mura Mura

So many times this week I have sat down to listen to Mura Mura and write a review, but every time I get distracted with how brilliant they are and I can’t go on.
I don’t really know how to describe them other than they make me feel relaxed, excited, sleepy, happy, sad (the good kind of sad!) and content all at the same time.
Mura Mura is two guys, Tyler Tholl and Peter Johnson - From my understanding they were just friends that got together with some some other very talented musicians and created this EP.
Thank God they did. It is sublime.

I listen to most: Alone in my room a lot, but I am pretty sure this is the kind of music that would be appropriate for any occasion. I can imagine the band playing in a basement bar with a couple of slow dancers in front and a lot of people murmuring and sipping their whiskey.
Sounds like: Beirut, The Morning Benders, maybe a bit Fanfarlo in terms of the music.
